Title: Part Numbers Advice - High Pressure Air Con Valve
Post by: ajr3773 on 20 July 2011, 19:31:27
Anybody know how to get this off. Ive tried a 15mm & 16mm deep socket and neither fit. Nor does a spanner.
Looking at resorting to a pair of mole grips but this valve looks like its got 8 sides to it.

Is it a specialist socket or not.
Am i right in assuming id need to put a 17mm spanner on the hex on the pipe whilst turning the valve.

A normal 15mm socket for me with, as you suggest, a 17mm on the fitting below to support the pipework. It's just not a very well defined hexagon due to the minimum diameter ally bar having been used to produce a 15mm across the flats hex.  :y

Having looked at other threads ive contacted 2 separate Vauxhall dealerships today in an attempt to order this part but they have both told me that part number 52458177 does not show up and they have gone on to inform me that the only valve listed for my car is 3041827.

Can anyone on the forum confirm this and does this include the valve cap and the seal?

just get the air con bloke to change it as he has to gas it up anyway, they usually got them on the van.

Air con bloke can't replace it as it is a different valve to the schrader types usually used on air con.

Your 15mm socket might need a tap to make it go on the valve, it is a snug fit.  ;)

Comes with the green Viton seal, but no cap. (Caps come from your local friendly scrap yard .......... apparently  ::))

Why on earth can no other Vx dealership find it then.
Surely they all use the same bloody system.
