Title: one and a half keys
Post by: owl10 on 08 August 2011, 10:45:18
Hi all, wondering if someone with a bit of knowledge about keys can help?

When I bought my car it came with two three button keys, however one of these keys is missing approx 60% of the blade as it has been snapped off at some point.

Both fobs open and close the car etc, though obviously I can only use one to start the car!

Id quite like a spare, so was wondering if someone can tell me whether its just the horseshoe bit I need, or if some tech 2 jiggery pokery is needed?

Car is a 2000 facelift elite 3.0

Cheers!

You can just get a new blade, blank ones of fleabay are cheap. Get it cut where ever you like with the full one as a template.

Just remember to swap over the transponder chip to the new blade  :y

I know this doen't sound very helpfull without a link, but a few months ago when I was considering A N Other key for my Astra, I found a seller on eBay that could supply a cut key if you supplied the Key Code from the Car Pass ie H1234
Just looked for him ... but drew a blank (no pun intended  ;D)

edit
I don't think this is the one I found before, but he can cut a key from the key code ......... assuming of course you have a Car Pass.  ;)
