Hi my omega started playin up today it runs smooth and revs fine until you put under load and becomes very jolty and sluggish as if runnin out of fuel any suggestions before it starts costing loads thankyou
-
check the maint guide index for the paperclip test (see my sig)
and check for fault codes, and post em here.
Also hows the service history?
air and fuel filters recent?
spark plugs? (leads and dis ever been changed)?
-
Sounds like a misfire under load.
Need to check:
HT leads (condition, and not oil contaminated)
DIS Pack
Spark plugs
In that order :y
Where are you located?
-
As said...misfire under load...
First thing I would check would be to pull out the leads one by one and look for oil in the spark plug wells...if there is, and chances are there is...your cam covers are leaking...chance are this is due to the breather system never having been cleaned out and blocking...
Also check to see if the rubber on the leads is perishing...
Other potential cause is the dispack at the other end of the leads as the casing can crack over time (especially if rain water is getting through the join in your scuttle)
But as said, regardles of the reasons it will almost certainly be due to either the spark plugs, the leads and/or the dispack :y

or camcover gaskets :P :P :y

Tried the paper clip trick jus flashes once then twice and continues doin this?

12 is just start of sequence, means you have no codes stored if thats all it does
-
So its pckin up no faults then?
-
That's right...but quite normal very often with misfires...

As covered before that :y Cam cover would be the most likely reason for the plugs/leads/dispack failing but it will be the plugs/leads/dispack itself that has failed hence the misfire...obviously though the cause needs to be cured too and not just the symptoms :y

Cheers lads all plug sockets are dry so will try the dis first as cheapest solution and hopefully cure it. Is it a mission to change dont look to clever??

..... Is it a mission to change dont look to clever??
Lets just say it's awkward ::) ::)
Remove the wipers & scuttle to give you a bit more access, I think some remove the plenum although not strictly necessary. It's bolted to its bracket with Torx headed bolts but you can get away with a normal 6 sided socket (8mm IIRC)
Apply plasters to hands when finished. ;D ;D ;)
-
Ok cheers sounds like a nice job for my mate. Any one no the best/cheapest place to purchase one :-/
-
I would replace the fuel filter before doing any of these other things, unless you know its been changed quite recently. ;)
-
Right fuel filter done coil pack done plugs and leads done still no better still funny fuel pump maybe? Cheers

For a misfire under load you need to check as said:
Spark plugs
HT leads (condition, and not oil contaminated)
DIS Pack
Note you have swapped a lot of components - therefore you need to check if you are a pot down and the reason why.
First check all plugs sparking ok - remove a plug with HT lead still connected and earth out body of plug (use jump start lead connected to metal plug body and to earth on battery) and crank - if no spark you have found duff pot.
Next need to check if ignition or mechanical - do a compression test on duff cylinder and compare results to others - if compressions all reasonally high and roughly equal mechanically ok - problem ignition or fuel.
If good sparks on all cylinders and compressions ok suspect fuel (injectors)
HTH :y

Gettin a 19 on paper clip trick would this b anythin to do with it?
-
Yep, crank sensor
-
Even no it always revs on spot fine just shite under load?
-
Crank sensor now changed no surgin any more just flat as a witches tit top end revs on the spot to about 5000 then fluffs out and dont like also there is a loud hissing noise from engine/exhaust? Any suggestions
