Hi all.
In my former Astra G I had a sunglasses holder above the door (in the place where the passenger has his grab handle). It looked like this:

In my Omega (which is a LHD Opel) there is a grab handle in the driver's side. I intended to remove that grab handle and put a sunglasses holder in its place, because I am so used to take the sunglasses from there that it has become something natural for me.
Today I had the chance to get a sunglasses holder from a 2010 Astra. It looks the same than the one in my old Astra and the one in my Mom's Corsa.
Problem is that it doesn't seem to fit in my Omega :'(. The gap between the screws of the grab handle is bigger than the gap between the screws of the sunglasses holder.
I've searched the Opel EPC and there is no sunglasses holder for the Omega.
Question is: Is there a sunglasses holder suitable for such a gap? Maybe from a Vectra, Signum or Insigina? From a Cadillac Catera or Holden whatever?
Any sunglasses holder installed in Omegas that you know?
TIA.

I had the same issue when I tried to take the holder from my Vectra and put it into my omega. I searched almost for 1 day straight, until I came to the conclusion that Vauxhall do not do them for the Omega.
-
I just use the compartment on the right, below the lights dial.
-
I fitted a pair once, bought them from the stealers for about a fiver. I had to make up a couple of blanks to cover the courtesy light holes, then screw self tappers into these. They looked very good, and they worked, but I never got round to fitting them in my Facelift.
-
I slip mine on top of the sun visor, easily pulled out when I need them, which is not very often....... :D :D
-
I have no doubt, I would bang my head on that.

Cant imagine why anyone in Durham would have a need for sunglasses. :D ;D

These were taken when I had done the job in my pre-facelift, Yes I know the self tappers didn't match at the time. OK the sunglasses were from the '70s, I just wanted to show that they would take big sunglasses!

After these pics were taken, I fitted matching self tappers, and the glasses holder looked smart after cleaning. It was actually "damped" talkng two seconds to close.

Lol, it protrudes no more than the grab handle does.

...which does make contact now and then. And if it's that thin won't take my sunglasses anyway. ;D
More use than a drivers side grab handle though.

Not the way I drive... :)

Finally got round to fitting one in the Facelift.

Actually, I would rather hit my head on a nice rounded sunglasses holder, than the lethal useless handle - just a thought. ::)
-
may need to find one of these :y

If you want to do the job, when you remove the grab handle, you need to cut off this peg (only plastic):-

Then you will need a couple of these, I forget where I found them, the number is 90387476 (sorry, EPC not installed yet). You could of course use something else, but these are perfect:-

You then have to drill fresh holes in the hinges of the sunglasses holder, then fit with longer self tappers!

That looks good to me..... :y Where did you get the holder?
-
The sunglasses holder is a Vx one I bought a few years ago, it's a bit of a generic one, I know it fits Vectras, & a few more. If Vauxhall can't get you one, there are some on ebay.

Hi, Agemo.
I've searched 90387476 in the EPC and found nothing. Can you please give an advice on how to get these plastic pieces?
-
Strikes me as a daft idea, but each to their own :y
I just use the glovebox like normal people.
-
Sorry mate, I have no idea, I may have picked them up at the scrappy. If you can't find them on the EPC, then you will have to fit a couple of bits of trim. As TB says, it's a daft idea anyway ;)

I'm not old enough to wear gloves, but what else needs to go in there :-/. OK, I have a small torch, a penknife and, errr, sunglasses ;D

My stuff would still fit, even if there was a telematics, which is why I'd always stick telematics in glovebox :-X

Point being there us more room without telematics, sillies. ;D or put them in the centre arm rest, or the door compartment.... Etc. :-/
