It's not the nicest of jobs, but it aint worth nearly £300.  :-/

EDIT: And, you really should be replacing both at the same time.  If one is FUBAR, the other wont be far behind.

Any ideas on what is reasonable to expect to pay?  Anyone around in East London / Ilford Essex area you anyone in the forum would recommend.  £270 felt a bit steep I have to admit.

Thank you all for your help and guidance.  I'll seek out an alternative garage.  Grateful for any recommendations.

Depends on their Hourly rate. And how long they think it will take. It can be a pig. Assuming we're talking about wishbones?

I suspect they think it will take a while. :o

IMO fit a pair of lemforders wishbones for that money. But make sure they torque the bolts with wheels loaded.

Generally, as said...
"Always fit suspension parts in pairs". Or you'll get uneven Performance.

Can you clarify please?

If rear donut bush buy the ones in robs link and bring them round here. I'll fit them.

I just had 2 new suspension arms put in the front - lemforder ones.

Not sure about the donut terminology, its the bush for the back wheel driver side.

I don't mind doing a trip to reading to get it done.

probably should get both bushes on the rear done then?

This is a big thank you to chrisgixer -a recent trip to reading, 2 new rear donut bushes and a general check professionally executed have made me a very happy man.

As a result of this visit, Chris highlighted some shoddy work done by my local garage on my suspension arms and has potentially saved me alot of hassle.

A knowledgeable and generous gent. :y

No worries Z. Pleasure to meet you.

Now remind me, what did we discuss...

Drop links... rattle.
wishbone bushes....incorrectly tightened wheels unloaded
Slight pull and steering wheel off centre
Brakes pads and discs you knew about (vx trade club disc and pad set)
Brake fluid.

Oh, and what settings does it have? Do you have your set up sheet...?

All easy stuff to sort except I don't have facility to re tighten the wishbone bushes currently. Depending your current settings we'll see where is best to recommend sorting that out. If settings are ok then they really should re do the bush tightening correctly.

Wheres best place to get drop links these days... Anyone?

Cheers Andy...

Any pointers on what to look for on the 2.2dti lump for Zarehs.
I know very little about that engine so didn't look too hard tbh.

Got meself a trade-club card.  Gonna get a brake disc and pad set and new bottle for the coolant.  Looking for some drop links also.

I'll send through the printout for the alignment when i get home.  Hopefully see the guys who put in my wishbones and get them to re bolt them with the car on the floor tomorrow.

...and check strap bush...?

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1313533468/3#3

It's pence for one, iirc. If they come in packs of 5, get all 5 and I'll buy the rest off you. :y

Do not allow them to tell you that the entire check strap mechanism is needed for £26. It's not. Just the small plastic washer with lumps on looking thing, is all you want.  :y
