So you all keep saying. But I haven't had to go on any forums to ask how to repair this or that on the wifes six year old ZT, cause it hasn't snapped it's cambelt, or had an oil cooler fail, or an HBV, or........anything. :)
-
Oh, and it would leave a 2.5 omega for dead. ;D

But thats because you use a dealer to do everything, and I think deep down, enjoy being bent over whilst the service manager shafts you about £1000 for a cambelts change....

Never been near a dealer. Local indie does the servicing......that's all it needs ::)

Problem is, had it made it off the drawing board, Rover's management would have decided they'd have to make it using the same door and roof panels as the 4 door to save money. They'd have spent a fortune redesigning every other panel on the car to accomodate this instead of telling them no, and the end result would have been a minger. ::)

Isn't it a rebadged Audi????????????? :) :)
-
rover made some good stuff, shame that it turned out a bit crappy when they bolted it all together. still could be worse, guess it could have been british leyland. lol

Dont have me to start on you again, you'll only end up crying ;D
-
Oh Come on Steve, i have missed it over the last few weeks ;) ;)
-
The profile is all wrong.
Too much curve at the top of the glass, car should be a lot longer and lower, giving a more meaningful stance.
Exactly what a GT car should be.
-
FWD though.......
Had it made it to the showroom and been RWD it might have stood a chance......
it does look pretty though

i've been looking over the site that that info came from
http://austin-rover.co.uk/
having spent a bit of time reading it you can see that there was a time in the late 70's and early 80's where, had they got their act together they could have produced some cracking cars that would have set a standard.
the maestro and montego were ready in the late 70's!!! Imagine seeing that in the window of the BL dealers in '79, ford were still 3 years away with the Mk3 escort, the golf had not long come out and the Maestro was bigger inside, better specced and quicker, and ou can bet cheaper a well.......
mind blowing when you also look at the projects/prototypes pages, they were really forward thinking, its a shame that BL/Austin Rover just couldn't get their act together
