Hello All
Can some1 help me..
Have been checking on thing under the bonnet yesterday making sure all ok and have seen that my HBV has been disconnected and 2 hoses bridged and 1 blocked off.. Ummm
I was taking a closer look and it apears that the vaccume hose also has been cut. I have just bought a new thermostat as i thought old 1 had stuck as heat in car is only warm. T/Stat not fitted as yet.. I know i can get new HBV but very worried about vaccume hose i know it goes into the car have been doing alot of homework since this horrible find.
So any ideas on this PLEASE
Many Thanks :'( :'( :'(

My guess and it is only a guess without knowing which pipes have been bridged is that the previous owner had a leaking heater matrix. The car I just scrapped had that and while I sourced a new one I inserted a3 inch length of half inch copper pipe into the connectors where they come out of the bulkhead. Two one above the other in front of the driver on a UK car.
When you get a new HBV get a a VX one not a pattern one.

Thanks 4 reply...
Oh bugger means i need a new matrix :(
So when it comes to fitting new HBV am i going to be able to connect vacumme hose back up as it looks like its been cut... ?
Also is a new matrix a big job ??
Thanks

Matrix change is a crappy job, even the 'cheat' way, but don't despair, it may be the other way around.
The way I see it, judging by what you've written, what's been bypassed is the HBV, not the matrix.
The fact that you are getting any heat at all in the cabin supports this idea. If the matrix had no coolant flow, you'd get no warmth at all.
So I'd guess that the HBV has been bypassed because it was leaking. :)
The fact there isn't much heat may indicate that the matrix could use a good flushing out. Worth doing this while changing the HBV anyway. Guide in the Maintenance Guides section

Thank u
Im feeling happier lol
Think you could be on to somthing with your reply.. I am going to get hold of a new HBV and fit.. Then see whrere i am then..
Do i just feed the Vacume hose back into the gromet on bulkhead or is it more tricky than that.... ???????????

Photos of what you have when you have fitted the new VX HBV will help
