stupid question how do you know its a face lift (i thought of the colour coded rub strips ) the only way i can tell is by the bumper, so apart from that is there any difference to the body

By the interior (Dashboard mainly) and rear end.

I'm sure there are other obvious ways but they stuck out

Yeh... just noticed... mirrors

Notice how the washer pipe has been re routed (Top RH of scuttle) to the bonnet jets (they're built into the scuttle on a facelift).

Just had another look ( looking for the "join" !!  :) ) and another oddity ...

Xenon type headlamp washers on non projector lights ?? and the light/wing area looks wrong..possibly original wings ??

so bumper/headlight/headlight surrounds/bonnet all replaced from a scrappy ??

Definately been a front end jobbie, plus, I thought only ex-plod facelift cars were white, and they didnt use 2.0's.

I just wonder what you'd class it as when insuring it.... 'Yes, it's a facelift model with a prefacelift front end....'

I bet the main beam stays on because the connectors have been cut off and the wires just taped together.

I'm rather glad someone spotted this....

I was wondering the other day, chatting with JamesV6 , whether it might be possible to stick a mini-facelift front , on a facelift body......

:D

simply because the facelift front end is so bloated and horrid, but the rest of it's really nice :D

the mini-facelift has the prettiest front end combination....   especially with Irmscher bits on.....    so I was thinking about a facelift with surgery when I eventually replace the latest elite....

(being as my current Elite is about as late a model mini-facelift as I'm likely to find.. )

this gives me hope !

:D

OmegaVXR (lee) facelifted the front end of his 1994 omega and personally i think it looks fantastic, although he also got it a full respray and 19" alloys, personally i reckon putting an older look on a newer car gives the impression of a repair of a front end smash...

i think it can be done tho, with a modification behind the bumper..?

Don't you mean "nice 2 or 3 cars stuck together, mate"  ;D ;D OK,   at least he did say "its a project" . Nothing a few tubes of Super Glue, or Halfords Finest Respray won't cure  ;D

You know, somebody shoud invent a keyboard that can spell for you after a few pints, you know puts all these dan'm lettres in the right order  ;D

One thing is, if it really is a 2000 car, its mighty cheap, OK might need a bit of fettling, but ............... Not long ago, there was somebody who spent several £K's on a replacement gearbox, or was it engine ?, and was dumped on Fleabay for not a lot. Someone in the business who had a garage could take this and turn it into a good car for not a lot, OK slightly indeterminate history, but if you could flog them a class Omega for £750, with the basics done (cambelt etc) they would have a cracking car for a very reasonable price. A lot of comfort and safety, for  a very reasonable price. I get fed up seeing good cars getting scrapped, cause some crap Evans-Halshaw miss-diagnose faults and want huge amounts to fix simple things, all for the sake of a Tech 2. Class cars that are great for a growing family. I got my first Omega, cause I couldn't fit 3 growing kids into the back of the Cav!. They remain my mind, as excellent vehicles, very comfortable, smooth and with tons of room, and beat most of the new cars on the road. Anyone who is buying a new car is missing out !.
