Engine running, heater on and look under car see if it`s leaking
-
ok mate just done that. im on lunch and its on drive and its obviously been leaking since i got home (about 15 mins) cos when i look under the car from drivers side there's a bit of flui on the floor what looks to be just behind the engine :-?
-
Make sure it`s not A/C condensate. If it`s HBV, coolant should be dripping off bottom of gearbox where it mates to engine block
-
well i did look for 5 mins and didnt see anything dripping. if it was the hbv would it be flooding out?
-
.... if it was the hbv would it be flooding out?
Depends. Mine last leaked with the a/c on, but was OK-ish with the a/C off, all depends where the diaphragm is split & what heat settings are set. :y

thanks for all your help chaps. ill be honest i have no idea if its aircon water or this hbv fluid.
ive properly brimmed it and the dash warning has gone; im going to keep my eye on it but if it comes back suddenly is there a mechanic on OOF that could take a look (near northampton)?????? (obviously ill pay :y :y :y :y

How can you have posted on here over 1500 times and not know what a HBV is ? ::) it must be one of THE most discussed components on here :o author=714344445F79524E437964434754260 link=1314790043/2#2 date=1314790172]

Air con does have a condensate drain to the floor but this isn't anything to do with this water loss.
There's a diaphragm inside the HBV which operates a valve inside which diverts coolant around your heater matrix or not. Depending where the split is in the diaphragm, and the requirements of the car for heat inside the car depends whether the HBV leaks or not. :y :y
