Title: What's a Plenum?
Post by: Martin_1962 on 09 October 2006, 20:35:48
Went into local dealer looking at pipes - needed one in a hurry, he had no idea what a plenum was, "It's an inlet manifold" said his computer.

Anyway insulation tape fix done - I cannot change the whole pipe as it is too long and behind the engine - I'll take Ronnies offer up when I work out which it is and cut & splice

If I hadn't been able to provide the part number for the set of plenum O rings I needed, then I would still be waiting for them!! My knowledge is being slowly learned from here, but you would expect parts guys to know their stuff.

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago when  we were going to do the breathers at the mini cambelt party so i went to local dealer to check stock of O rings. ' Have you got two sets of plenum o rings for a V6 omega ' I asked, simple enough i thought. Answer from fully trained VX partsman ' can you give me a bit more help ':o

Ive suffered from a young spotty VX parts lad who didn't know what a plenum is too.
Then I found out an old mate works in the parts at the same dealer so thats me on guaranteed trade from now on.
