does anyone know what needs replacing to eliminate play in the gear stick and whats involved as it looks like the prop shaft is in the way of the linkage!

under the stick is a plastic cup which can break!!! this causes severe play in the linkage as its not then lined up, this is all from memory around 5 years ago on a carlton so stand to be corrected!!

replacement involves removing the gaitor, and the cover then you can see the 4 bolts that hold it in place, unfortunatly you have to get under the car, with a long extension preferably with a wobble bar end,on a 3/8th ratchet,to undo them, also remove the clevis pin whicch holds the lever in place when this is all unbolted its an easy job to replace the plastic cup and restore normal operation
pretty sure Cem has recently done this when he changed hos car to manual so may be more up to date than my hazy memories!! lol :y
