Title: Rear arch rust treatment/respray
Post by: Lesopc on 12 September 2011, 22:14:50
Hi guy's, my w reg miggy has a little surface rust on the rear arch lips on both sides (no holes). I have already gone over the areas to remove a little paint around and over the tin worm with wet & dry paper. I have found several rust treatments in spray form but was wondering if anyone knows of any in specific that work best. Furthermore, i cannot afford to do a full respray (even panel by panel) so have opted to do it myself. Are there any tricks or tips for getting a good finish/match to the paint as the mirror shell i replaced was done with the supplied paint and lacquer (GM OE) but didn't look to good after around a year. Help would be gratefully accepted as i'd like to do this before it gets too cold and the rust builds up again. Thanks. :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?

Mines the same age and is also showing signs of rust around one rear wheel arch. That site looks like a good resource - I've bookmarked it. Thanks!

there are various insulators to do the job..  and some you can apply yourself..

however , a matching color good paint is a professional job , and beyond many amateur DIYers ..

requires expensive tools , compressors and years of experience..  and also preparing the correct color mixture requires multiple paint trials to match the color.. so I recommend its done by a pro.. sorry..
