Title: crankshaft sensor
Post by: john f on 12 September 2011, 15:49:03
Does anybody have any idea why the crankshaft sensor keeps failing on my CDX, what is the most common reason ?,I have just had to replace it for the third time in two years and they are supposed to last for years without problem. Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

Were the failed sensors genuine GM parts or aftermarket?

is the cable being routed as per original - i.e. tucked behind the oil cooler pipes and wrapped with a heat-protecting coating ?

your not bending it are you? when putting in... if you take it off have look at the plastic part on front of it should be a bubble or a round circle, warm that part up with lighter. and push down on it after with hand, put back in, if works that means its getting to hot., when changed mine i noticed the dif between them and did this and it worked wasted some money on new one but still have it just in case.
