Title: Noise from the suspension/exhaust
Post by: Robbo_cdx on 15 September 2011, 23:35:17
Hello again,

I'm going to get the car in the air this weekend as there is a rattling/knocking coming from both front and back.
I'm hoping it's just a loose exhaust, however is there anything I should be looking for/checking with the suspension specifically. I've seen the threads that mention the wishbones at the front, does the rear have any particular areas that need checking

Thanks

Robbo.  :)

Anti-roll bar drop links wear out quite regularly and make a knocking even when going along a fairly smooth road. The play can be be quite tricky to spot though.

at the front check wishbone where it mounts to chassis-usually bush's wear at rear mounting point-my saloon had that and my estate got same-dont matter though as doing them in the morning. also check center exhaust hangers-they split.

Drop links will not lead to tyre wear. Wishbones however.... Will. Not likely to knock uness the rearward bush has badly failed.
Also check track rod ends.
