HI!
I tried to make the paperclip test on my MY2000 Omega 3 litre X30XE.I know which pins need to connect with the wire (number 4 and 6, on my previous 3 litre I did it more times) so connected the pins, and turned the ignition on.But nothing has happened! The engine control light didn't start to blinking (diagnostic starting), it was continiously on - when I start the engine it goes off.Nothing has happened, procedure not started.
Is there any idea or experience why doesn't work?

On later systems light will only flash if if there are codes present

Can I generate a code which i can erase with the battery disonnection to check this? I had an O2 open circuit code checked with the code reader and my fuel consumption was horrible, but the control light didn't notice me!!This is why I try to investigate this problem closer.

Hi
I thought it was a pedal test for the facelifts?

Facelift or not thats not important. Fact is a facelift has nothing to do with!
Its the engines
2.0/2.5/3.0 can be paper clipped no matter what body its bolted to.

Ok, its's 3.0.Is it correct if there are no flashes if no fault codes?.It's sounds strange for me,at least the NO RPM signal must be "fault code" so it should be start the diagnosis, certainly it can be true.Does anybody confirm it?
Furthermore how could I generate a fault code?

Might be worth popping the instruments out and checking that someone hasnt wired the EML to the alternator or oil light.
Bodger trick to sell-on a faulty car.

Yeah, I think you know Hungary well... :D
I've thought the same, so I will check it, we've checked with code reader know (unfortunately not before I've bought the car) and only this O2 sensor problem was on it.We replaced both sensors (they came from my old car which was crashed by an idiot) and fuel consumption is much better now. I will install to a try my old instrument panel for this paperclip test.

It's an old post, but the solution was that oil pressure light was wired to motor diagnostic light on the instrument...no comment.
