hi guys,
found this very useful link.....
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1192976314
but cant really see where the 2nd and 3rd pics are referring to. has anyone got a bettr photo to show this?
also is this easy to do for a novice? and how much does a mint rear bumper go for (already painted in my star silver colour)?
cheers
-
appear clear to me, first one is taken from looking from rear wheel to the wheel arch & bumper. You stand, where the rear wheel is and look towards the back of the car and look at the wheel arch, you will see it.
Same with other picture, look at the bumper from underneath, when you look its very obvious!
-
second pic is trox screws on bumper open the boot and you will see them. may have covers over them if never been take out before. just look for screws around the bumper and should just come off.
-
When you put bumper back on you might find that the fixings and the lugs on the inner wheel arch liner are paggered (especially if they were rusted up when you took the off). You might have to get new ones or do what I did and make a bracket for it to fix to. It made a 10 min job alot longer

arrrrrr so these are on the inside of the boot! nice one!
thanks that help[s enormously guys!!!
what about the registration plate light??? does that just unscrew out and then you pop it back in to the hole on the new bumper?
cheers

Boot open, along the edge of bumper top lip is 4 semi-oval shape caps, prise off, torx screws underneath. Light just clips in

:y :y :y :y :y thank you very much.
what are torx screws? are they the star shaped type screws?
also at what point will the b :yumper become ''limp'' as in will it be easily removed after wheel arch and screws inside the boot are removed or will i have to give it a bit of stick?

Yep. Once all fixings are removed ease each side away from wheel arches, pull bumper towards you & unplug connector for numberplate light

grrrrrreat! cheers mate. are they tight, meaning will i get away with unscrewing them with my cordless 14.4v drill? so 3 screws in wheel arch, ones in boot then boom its eased off.
and one last question..... will theyre be a problem with lining it up or once all screwed in it will automatically line up?
sorryu for so many q's but this is quite daunting to me :-[
cheers :y

No access for drill for fixings at each wheel arch. 2 fixings @ each arch, one at top of bumper on the curve of the arch, other underneath the bumper at the bottom. When re-fitting ensure each side has overlapped the arch, replace all fixings, job done
Everybody has forgot to mention the pushpin fixings underneath bumper. Look right under the car and you`ll see two black plastic circles, in the centre of these is a plastic pin, push the pin up with a small screwdriver or centrepunch and it`ll fall out, then prise the two plastic "circles" out

thanks so much mate :y :y :y these push pins are presumably equal distance under the car at the rear (e.g. the left one near the exhaust presumably).
putting the push pins back in presumably is just pushing the circles back in then the pins?
when refitting would you suggest fixing the boot screws first? :y :y :y

Pushpins, yes to your method of re-fixing. Fix the two middle boot screws, then the fixings into wheel arches both sides, the other bootscrews then the pushpins. (Don`t forget the numberplate light ;)

wellll theres a funny story there! :D
it fell out on breaking about 2 years ago, so presumably push it through and underneath and then replace? :-/

Fitted from inside/behind bumper. Held with three torx (yep, those again ;D) screws. Possible to do with bumper in situ if you get the car high enough

good point - i think though mine may currently be ''sitting'' in place ;D

ok guys, i have a dilemma.... bearing in mind the drivers side rear wing AND bumper look crap cos of my bodged paint job and the rusty wheel arch (initial problem) i deduce my options are thus.....
do the work myself. only cost replacement bumper. yet the wing will never be perfect.
OR
Pay £200 to daz's mate who will im sure do an excellent job. but having to leave the car in stoke will mean either staying over for 2 nigts or getting the train adding to the over all cost.
OR
Pay £400 to a local place thats quoted me for REPLACING wing and bumper.
OR
pay £2oo to another local firm who will ''patch up'' but have said the rust will come back at some stage.
any suggestions about what a bear does? any advice would be helpful :y
