Stripped out the centre console to check the wiring to fit my heated seats,
There are some wires taped up, so thinks I've got a chance
:)
Then checked the "Haynes book of lies" and found the correct wire colours are taped up
but the switches have teminal Nos 1,2,3,4 (5 no connector pin)
Haynes quote terminals 1,2,4,5 for both the early and later models
Anyone got any info of experience in this area

I'll have to check my 'documentation' tomorrow.

Followed the correct wiring colours for three of the pins and put wire for pin 5 to pin 3 as it was the only one left
Turned ignition on and console lights came on without sidelights being on.
So that doesn't work, back to the drawing board :(
Have left the wire colours and positions in the garage so will put them up tomorrow.

It's a good job those wires weren't connected to an unused ejector seat!

OK, here goes. This could be confusing.
The heated front seats are fed by two fuses. F15-20A and F29-10A.
From F15, a black wire runs to the little control unit mounted on the connector under the seat. It supplies Ign. 12v to both seats.
From F29, a black wire runs to both switches. It supplies Ign. 12v. to the switches.
Switch connections.
Term. 3. Black Ign. 12v
Term. 4. Grey/Yellow wire. This is the variable dimmed light voltage for the switches.
Term. 1. Brown. 0 volts.
Term. 2. Black/Red. 12v Ign.
Term. 5. Black/Green. Variable voltage dependent on switch position.
Controller inputs mounted on connector under seat.
Term 15. Black. Ign 12v.
Term. P. Black/Green. Variable.
Term 86E. Black/Yellow. 12v. Ign.
Outputs.
Term. 31. Brown. 0V
Term. H. Red. Heater feed.
Term. T. Unknown colour for thermostat feed. (Probably black).
Now, the colours and numbers may differ, but the important features are:
The two fuses. One direct to the controller and one to the switches.
The outputs from the switches. One 12v Ign. One variable. One 0 Volts.
The outputs from the controller to the element.
Let me know what colours you have and measure their voltages if you can.

earlier cars (ir remote ones) have significantly different looms...

Yep, I'm worried that the above is quite different from Issunaz's setup.
I didn't realise there were two fuses. I'm hoping the switch configuration is similar.
Once he's ID'd the wire colours and measured their voltages, we may be in with a chance.

We are talking about a 98 Pre facelift.
Fuse F14 feeds the front seats only
Feed to drivers seat is
Seat wiring Loom Feed
0 Black/Yellow
0 Brown
Brown (Thick 1mm) Brown (presumably Motor wirirng)
Red (Thick 1mm) Red (presumably Motor wirirng)
Brown (Thin) Blue/Brown (presumably Motor switch wirirng)
Blue (Thin) Red/Blue (presumably Motor switch wirirng)
No airbag fitted so that plug is hanging loose
The haynes, shows 4 pin switches on the front seats and 5 pin switches on the rear

Just had another look
other fuse is F20 for the back seats
unused wires at the drivers seat plug match the wires taped up behind the console switches
so I just need to sort out the four pin configuration

If its anything like my plod mobile then the the wires for the front heated seats were all cut behind the switch connector.

I still have my problem but now I have my doubts about it just being the drivers side either the connector or the actual heat pad itself I didn't know about fuse 29
I guess this is fine though as all the lights to the switches work.
F20 for the back should this have a fuse already fitted as I know the passenger rear seat works need to do thorough testing to be sure.
Still need to check the connectors its just one job after another.

If its anything like my plod mobile then the the wires for the front heated seats were all cut behind the switch connector.
mine has the connector tabs crimped on and are just taped over to the loom, so it was a simple job to refit to the socket and push the switch front back on.
Problem is only the wiring position :-?
