Hi,
the Haynes Manual 3510 (1994 - 1999 Omega) list a left hand relay and right hand relay for the seat heaters. My driver seat heater has failed does anyone know where these relays could be located.
Also how do you get the heater mats out ? I was at the breakers today and there is a nice elite saloon and it looks like the seats havent been touched ? ;)
Regards
Mike

its a big job replacing the seat heaters IIRC.... you have to rip the old ones out with the cloth still attached!!
I think its easier to replace the whole seat!

If its cloth trim, the heater pads can be replaced... ..if leather, the official line is a new seat. I've heard a rumour that its possible to get to from underneath, but not tried. Failing that, try an upholstery specialist... ...sorry.

Is it not possible to fit a seperate heater pad and just leave the original sewn in pad in place? It might take a little longer for the heat to get through though.

That's exactly what I was wondering. My fronts are dead. Cold too!

guess you would have to take a seat out and have a look underneath.
Access is very limited leccy seats cause of all the motors... even me with my skinny arms can't get much access.

As there are only 4 four cap headed bolts (& a few electrickery plugs) that hold the seats in place it wouldn't be worth the hassle of working on 'em still in the car.

Not necessarily I have seen on the other site some part numbers for the heater pads and thought I would see about getting mine done.
I contacted autovaux and they can get the parts.
Apparently with the leather you can unstitch and replace, which is what I plan to do in the new year.
Thinking of replacing both my front seat heaters as not 100% sure they both work. atleast then if i know the two heater pads are good and something is still not right I will know its either the switches or the wiring.

Back to the other part of the original question, anyone know where the relays are. My front seats have both failed and think relays are an obvious choice before taking the leather apart!
Cheers

Steve i have to admit I haven't actually considered the relays although with my seats they were swapped and the original heated seats worked.
Be interested myself to know where the relays are.
I can only assume the relays are located somewhere under the seat shall check my old seats as I still have them, maybe able to locate them and even swap them over to see if they work.

Your first check should be whether you have 12 volts to the plugs that supply the heating elements. Looking at Haynes wiring diags, the rears are relay controlled, that's why they switch off when the ignition is turned off, but the fronts are switched directly from S30 & S55. You don't need to look for the relays now! ;)
