Nice in it's day, but I reckon you'd be really disappointed. We....ahem....senior fellows have fond memories of lots of things, but.........

Space 1999 was on the telly the other day and I said to my missus 'I used to love this'. Watched it for five minutes and felt totally embarrassed by how bad it was. :(

I'm afraid I couldn't agree more. I loved several of my early cars but just know how poor they were compared to what I have driven over the last few years.

History should remain just where it is; in the past.  :(

Same reasoning as saying "Never meet your heroes".
In it's day a super car but compared to modern day vehicles I think you would be disappointed.

This was the first car that i drove, i will never forget it as the Police stopped me in 1976 for driving with no license or Insurance.
I am glad those silly days have gone.

I see what you all mean & i would'nt pay that if i could but i'm happy in an old car. I'm guessing the 0-60 on that 'Tina is about 15/16secs. not at all fast, but it's the charm & feel of these older cars that floats my boat.I still love taking the Merc & the Landy round the block.
I'm still getting a Mk3 tina when i've sold the Landy as a weekend toy for local steam shows but that'll only be £1000 or so.
I run the Mig 'cos it's a proper RWD car with a boot @ one end & a bonnet the other, so sorry but i like the nostalgia. 8-)

Had a lot of work done to it,but no mention of welding to the rear chassis which was a weak point on the mk two's

Mine was a 1966, not in 1966 I must add, Mki GT noisey, fast for it's time and great fun. I do however take the point that we sometimes look back with rose coloured glasses. Like the early Cortina's however I doubt you will get a decent Mk3 for £1000, not since 'Life on Mars' raised their profile. :)

I cursed Life on mars for putting Mk3 prices into Mars at the time but so many sellers have dragged theirs out in the hope of cashing in that they've dropped again, believe me i watch 'em. I would'nt bid without viewing, but mates can weld, spares are available, bodywork/spraying all done in house. You can fix most things with a few spanners, a hammer, mole grips & a few bits of wire. I grew up with these cars & understand them. Folks run & restore classic cars. I've also still got a void bush puller! Much as i love my Mig i don't understand it. I open the bonnet ,gulp & shut it again. Other than a service i pay trusted friends to look after it. In 20 or 30 years time Migs will be classics. :y

Yep I tent to agree, you can't tinker arounder the bonnet like you used to, there again more reliable as a rule, swings and raundabouts. :y

AS posted earlier Mike i love migs 'cos they're big RWD motors but much easier to live with day to day, cold mornings etc but they're still a proper car.....for me they're the best of both worlds. :y

.... I've also still got a void bush puller! .....

My problem when the void bushes needed replacing on my MkIII was getting one of the top wishbone bolts out. It'd rusted itself in and was staying put. I ended up sawing it into 3 bits & drilling out the centre bit from the suspension on a radial arm drill. :( A new bolt in 1980 was something daft like £18  :o
I could've worked on that car blind fold - it always needed something doing to it.  ;D

very nice example,my brother would love this,he has just bought a triumph tr7 with 3.5 litre v8 rover sd1 unit in it,the car has bills for restoration of £17 thousand pounds he bought the car for £3500 and too the engine has had alsorts done ,it's fuel injected, stage 2 land rover heads on it,header pipes and full twin stainless steel exhaust, also it has anti tramp bars on the rear and disc brakes all round, but still does not stop it from going side ways,he's had it tested he sad it is producing 290 - 300 bhp in a car that ways as much as a fly,i'm so gealous,it scars the shit out off me, but boy what a noise from that v8 and you can here him pulling up outside the house wow i want one :) :) :)

I think they made one called a TR8 in ltd no.s but could be corrected on that one. Old cars are never going to be as reliable as newer ones but if something silly "went" you could stick some tin foil in a plug cap or anything equally as silly but it got you home. New cars are off limits to most people fixing wise, will they ever become classics?
When the last facelift Omegas are 15/20 years old what will we be driving?

Driving? You think in 15 to 20 years the health and safety nazi's will still let us do something as dangerous as drive?!  ;)

Facelift Omegas, hopefully. Anything remotely comparable new will either have been banned or cost a couple of grand to tax for a year.

From what I keep hearing most food seems to be bad for you in one way or another, seems whatever we do is bad for us or the environment.
The 'Ball Game' went ahead in Sedgefield, Co Durham. 900 year old tradition, but it is not 'organised' so I guess that is why it was on.
The future is a worry imho.  :)
