Title: Music
Post by: tufnailsteve on 31 May 2007, 18:03:04
Hi Im a newbie so sorry if this has already been covered. I have the CDX 2.6 2001 model. Does the CD player play self recorded CDs? If not does anyone know a CD which fits into the huge space taken by the current one and will still display info?

most cd players i've had will play wma files but to play mp3 i think they have to be compaible. Drop some wma tracks onto a disc & see what happens, i dont think you will do any damage to the player it just wont play em. As for the head unit i think they are double din on a facelift & you can get upgrades just have a look around :y

CD player should play the majority of formats if they're written to the disc in Audio format, as the cd player will read it as tracks, and not files

my standard player plays CDRs fine, but wont play my CDRWs even if its the same files, written in audio format, on both discs

Hi,
I am just changing my standard head unit in my 52 plate cdx for a kenwood ddx7029 - Double din touch screen with ipod and bluetooth.
The shop have told me it may take a bit of fitting but you can get a custom fascia to put in a double din unit as the standard stereo is funny shaped.
I will let you know how I get on and post some pics.

Will look forward to those, as far as I know, nothing is off the self to convert Vauxhall double din to ISO double din, very little space left for anything. think Tunnie tried, and gave up.

UPDATE:
After a few hours and some damaged fingers the Kenwood DDX 7029 is in.

Installed with the IPOD Lead in the pocket under the dash by the door (Perfect space)
and the Bluetooth kit.

I would recommend this unit and kit to anyone with an Omega as a stereo upgrade.

Only thing left to do now is splice the wiring loom so I can get DVD pictures while the car is running as the standard Kenwood wiring does not allow this and with the Omega wiring you cannot get pictures on the DVD player for safety.

Have a look at the pics and let me know what you think.

How do you upload pictures?
