But doesn't the Vx one come with an unmarked belt. How difficult does that make fitting?

I bought one last year and that had the unmarked belt but I managed and its the first one I have done so it can't be that hard ::)

As long as you use the proper timing tool kit then the marks are only a seconary check anyway, once you rotate the engine the marks never realign ;)

But aren't they needed to aid with initial fitting? (I've only done one and then I was really only the helper)

Not really no. When the tool kit is fitted it holds everything where it needs to be ;)
Have you a copy of the DVD on how to replace the timing belt kit?

Yes I do mate. Not watched for a while though.
From what I recall , when initially fitting the belt it was quite tight on the left hand side (1 and 2) in order to get the white mark lined up with the timing marks - would have been easy to steal an extra notch of slack on the belt if it wasn't marked which no doubt would have made getting it on 3 and 4 (or the top roller) tough to impossible. ...if that makes any sense.
I may well be talking b@llocks though ;D
