Hi All,
I have a 2001 2.2 estate and the front passenger window is playing up. The window will go down but not back up. If you leave the car switched off for about 1 hour, turning on the ignition will close the the window
Is there some king of control box some where.
Looks like I need a manual, Are the "service" CD's sold on auction sites any good ?
Cheers

Do you have the problem from both switches? What about from the driver's door lock, is it still the same? I'd be inclined to change the motor itself.

Hi,
Thanks for the advise. The widow operates with the same (no up movement) from both switches. I just checked the Maintenance guides of the forum and cant see one for reprogrammimg the window ECU. Do you mean the forum or in a manual somewhere ?

Your problem won't be a 'programming' fault. When you remove power from the windows (battery or fuse) you loose the 'one shot' operation. Programming windows involves keeping the switch pressed in the up direction untill you hear a click in the appropiate door after the window has gone to the top - that window is now 'programmed' ie it'll go up on its own. Your problem is obviously that you can't get it up in the first place ... ooer ::)
What about the big plug connection to the door by the A post? It could be a dodgy connection in there. Plug & unplug a few times ......

Or you could have the dodgy switch syndrome. You may need to replace the switch, I had the same problem with my facelift (when I had one that is, soon to have another) Replaced the switch and no more problems. If you know some one with a known good switch give it a try. Worth trying to eliminate the problem.

I would think it's very unlikely that both switches are fubar'd ....... which is why I asked the Q ;) ;) ;)
The multi-pin plug connector to the door is another possible though.
