Helpfull advice needed. ;)
I've got a y reg 140'000 miles vauxhall combo 1.7 d thats given me five years trouble free service, it passed the mot on monday with only a brake light out. today the gear box has failed :'(


I really really dont know what to replace it with.  
I have hired a transit connect but i dont like it, the engine is ok but it is just not comfortable.plus its a ford and i dont do ford.
I used the omega on monday whilst the mot was being done the, mpg would have me bankrupt in a month ;D so thats not an option.

Why not replace the fubar gearbox?

Van is not really due you much, get a unit from a scrappers and save a few quid.

Or burst the bank and get something newer, is that what you mean?

Yes thats what I mean, not sure what to do. is just going to be trouble from now on.
