Title: Car radio fitting.
Post by: Terry_Seyforth on 29 November 2007, 11:56:18
Hi just a quick one.
I received a cd/dvd car radio today, was expecting a iso lead on the back, that was too easy, it hasnt, is there anywhere I can find out the config of the connections that were behind the old 4 x cd changer, I have the combined 4 x cd changer and radio and tape player from a 2002 2.6 v6 omega.
Grrrrrrrr is nothing easy. I already had bought the converter for the new radio and the radio  doesnt have iso  :'(
Thanks.

Terry,

Do you have the CCR 2006?  If so, on the top of mine on a sticker there is a wiring diagram showing the power (+-), Illumination, Speaker outputs etc..etc..

Yes I just took this out, it has the diagramme on top.
DOH !!
yes there is RR FR FL RL, this I follow.
Just not sure about the others.
SDV ?
SWC ?
square with arrow in it ?
12V = Supply
circle, looks like sun ?
earth = earth
Battery ?
arial looking sign ?
I noticed there is three connections on the back of old cd changer, two have diagrammes and one has nothing ? although it was pluggged in. ?
Im going to try figure it out now, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks :-/

Ok well I have spliced the leads together, luckily the colours matched, going to have a nightmare fitting though, there doesnt seem to be any room at back for the wires etc, old one slotted into fixed connections, looks like I will be doing some mods tomorrow.

Sorry bt I can't help you with the ones that you question.  They don't make sense to me either.  I would say the one with the sun symbol is illumination.  I would imagine there is a 12v ignition live also, probably the SDV or SWC.  Get your multimeter and see what they read with ignition on and off...

is it an aftermarket player? i.e. not standard vauxhall?

wondering whether you might need an adapter thingy...

Yes I bought the adapter thingy, but the bloody cd/dvd player didnt come with a iso connection, it came with two ways to connect, one had like the connections you would use on indoor sterio, jack plugs, and the other connections were just wire ends, I have managed to connect all the stereo wires up now, except for the pink, which I think you can have a reversing camera attached, mod cons ay , I just need to make space behind the new stereo as there isnt enough room to push it in, it is going to be a tight fit, but I will get it in somehow.
It wont sit flat like the original, Im not happy about that , but the new one has a SD and usb , dvd cd tv 3.5 screen, just will have to keep old cd player if I sell the car.
All day i think tomorrow. cross fingers, got to fit an aerial for the tv in the radio, the only prob is it has detachable front, these are a pain to keep taking in and out, unlike the original.
Anyways, will let you know if all goes ok.
Thanks ;)
