Title: beeping sound (x3/4) from under bonnet?

hi folks,

when I switch off my 03 Omega estate, there is a strange beeping noise coming from under the bonnet. Nothing makes this noise usually.

I havent locked the car, simply, switched off the engine and opened the door (not sure if it happens when I havent opened the door).

any idea what the noise is please?
