Has anyone got a wiring diagram for the connector which is behind the rear panel in the boot as I need to hard wire a new 12n socket?
Original wiring a bit of a bodge with scotchlocks everywhere ::)

There's loads of towbar & wiring info here somewhere. Have a search! ;)

.......
6 Stop lights wire Black / Yellow .......
Just remember though that the brake light feed if fed from this socket is via another trailer brake check 'relay' up front behind the glove box (above driver's feet in earlier cars).

So do you need the relay or can you short two terminals on the socket?
Or splice into feed wire to brake light?
-
If you break into the wire and "splice " it in any way.. you'll probably end up with a permanent "brake bulb failed" warning, the warning is all based on circuit resistance AFAIK. Thats why I had to buy the fancy "Flash Guard" control box at £54.50 + vat ( TC price through AndyC - give him a ring he's damned good !)

Isn't the relay which fits behind the glovebox cheaper at about £16 or could I not just short the socket terminals?
I am assuming that once this relay or piece of wire is in place that the brake live feed wire to the boot socket becomes live?

Yes to all! Or as you say take the supply from the actul brake lights. I just mentioned the feed to prevent you from scratching your head wondering why the the trailer plug in the boot was dead. ;)

Nice one thanks Andy :y
I'll take the feed from the actual wire to the o/s brake light via a 7 way bypass relay :y
