Sat nav in my elite doesn't work :(
It says 'CD Error' and spits it back out again. Ive tried two cd's and it does it to both of them. I have tried a CD lense cleaner and that hasn't worked.
Anyone got any ideas? :-?

Unplug the smaller connector on the back of the brain.
Press and hold the eject button and reapply the connector.
Wait ten seconds release eject button and try inserting the disc again.
Are you sure it's the correct disc ?

Will try above in a min (unit is out of the car atm)
CD wise, there is the original, and an newer CD. I bought the car a month ago, and when I picked it up, the seller did say that sat nav worked last year, however when he went to use it again, it came up with the error message. So CD's are ok... there not scratched etc either :-/

I messed about with the Sat Nav unit again today, still no joy.
Tried holding the button in while plugging it it.
Just keeps on saying 'CD Error', and then spitting disc out. :(

Sounds like either a laser failure or condensation inside and possibly on the lens.
Take the unit out and leave inside for a bit to warm up to room temperature and then try again. If it works then you have a weak laser, if it doesn`t then you may have a faulty laser.

Faulty laser im thinking.... Its been in the house for two weeks!
Before I gave up I decided to take the unit to bits and clean the lens by hand... Still no joy though :-[
How much are these to get hold of second hand? Are they coded to screens or anything daft like that?
-
Easy, type carin on fleabay, they come up all the time.
You're looking for a SYS581/75 or SYS582/75 as a direct replacement.
they are not coded as such but, and this is only an educated guess, I think there are calibration settings hidden within the service menus for things like the angle the unit is fitted at and speed pulses etc. I haven't managed to get any other service codes as yet only 6330
You should pick one up for around £30

6330 is the only engineers code you will need to enter calibration / installation mode. :y

Dave, In your opinion what is a Panasonic DV2300N, A Panasonic VA 7500 Motorised TFT Head unit worth second hand ?
-
Difficult one to price - depends really what you are after and what interest you can get on it.
It was a really underrated system in its day - Personally, I liked them and they sold for around the £1800 mark in 2002 - however, they were not that popular, not because there ware any problems, far from it, its just that Pioneer and Alpine had a much better marketing budget at the time !
