Title: philips ccrt 700 question.
Post by: Bacon Butty Man on 12 February 2008, 14:57:20
just fodling my new car and realising its got more gadgets than sainsbury's, i found a simcard in the stereo and upon investigation, the car is one bloody great big mobile phone, thru the ice system, it fully works as when i ring out it asks me to top up the card with credit, what i was wondering is are they locked into one network, this one is still BT Cellnet, or can i use another sim.
thanx

BT and Vodafone are the two networks you can use.

Perhaps Asda and Tesco as I think they use Vodafone.

it will not work with T-mobile or Orange or 3

Typo fixed - 900Mhz.  As opposed to 1800Mhz for Orange and T-Mobile (and derivatives)

Who do they use?

I knew I'd read this somewhere !

IMO Tesco will purchase the frequency and set up their own mobile company somehow.

i got a sim card through on saturday for my audio in the car, havent registered it yet but i shall do, ive had to stick it back on the card with tape as my youngest snapped it from the card it came in. but i think its a great hi fi, my speakers seem to go so loud with no distortion in them, just need a cd changer now for the boot

Thanks for the suggestions fellas, I havn't got it yet so I won't get any error codes till I plug it in.
Is the microphone speaker built in to the car somewhere? no obvious grilles, where's normal, overhead console?

I don't know what the original head unit was, it's got a CAR400 in it from when I bought the car a year ago, the steering wheel has got radio controls although I bought a Carbon Fibre Irmscher wheel from a  breaker recentlyand fitted it, but it's  electrically identical. :y

It is not a straightforward retro fit.  You need to change head unit, cd changer, courtesy light (it has mic), display, and a heap of wiring.
