Hi
I've just bought a T-reg Omega Elite (estate). I cannot seem to get the rear fog lights to work.
The bulbs are fine, and the taillight filament in the bulbs work ok. When I press the switch, I don't even get the light on the dash to tell me the rear fogs are on.
All the fuses appear to be ok. A strange thing happened; when I removed the fuse for the caravan constant current (#29), they started working, but they only worked once. Both rear fogs lit up, as did the indicator on the dash. I have not been able to recreate this however! :-/
Thanks in advance.
Nesh.

I may be suggesting something really stupid....but have you had the headlights turned on when trying out the rear fog lights. If I remember correctly your headlights must be turned on to make them work. :y

....and on early cars with integral rear fog lights they would not work if you had the headlights on full beam! :-? :y

;D I have tried every single combination possible!

From what you have said you may well have a short / faulty /bad earth connection with your wiring for the towing socket. I would check out that wiring all the way back to the main rear car wiring and especially the constant feed, which you state had an effect on the rear fog lights. :y
Do all other rear lights, including the brake lamps work ok?

It's possible the rear fogs have been wired via a relay to perevent them from lighting & causing glare in your interior when you've a caravan on the back. Could be problem with the relay/wiring if that's the case.

Its worth checking the trailer socket.
As some may have experienced, these have a set of contacts which break on insertion of the trailer plug to disconnect the rear fog lights..........if wired correctly.
Trouble is that these contacts in the trailer socket are the cheapest, nastiest, most horrible things you will ever see and get corroded so can cause issues with the rear fog lights not working.

Thanks for the responses. All other lights at the rear work perfectly. Hmm, looks like i'll have to check all the wiring!
The sockets "look" fine but who knows, plus I know for a fact the car has been used for towing caravans in the past so there's definitely potential for wear and tear.
As a side issue, the towbar dash light flashes when I put my hazard lights on (I have nothing connected to towbar socket).. is this normal? Doesn't flash with the left/right turn signals.
Nesh.

Nesh.
That's correct.

Its not wear and tear that causes it, its the fact its really poor quality contacts and its sat in the elements which makes them corrode!
