MSD i believe were a tuning company that either built or took vec gsi direct from factory and turned them into what they are....
Unique from every other vectra cometically, rarer, and about 20 horses more than the SRI.
I guess if there ever was an Omega GSI it would be a more extreme MV6.
But watch out - the boy racers have turned so many vectras into GSI lookalikes and i would reckon a fair few have been well thrashed.
Should have an MSD plate on it - i think in engine or on dash somewhere to signal authenticity..

yep they should have a msd id plate next to the vin plate i think and on drivers side sill with prodution number and that one in the photo does not seem to have one??? :-/

Hiya
Vectra gsi's are basically 2.5 v6 sri's which where shipped out to a company by vauxhall called msd (motor sport developments...now defunct) here they was fitted with 3.0 omega cams, 17" alloys, had recaro electric seats fitted and some dash colour coding, had deeper front / rear bumpers & skirts fitted and as far as i know they also had police spec brake pads fitted.
also the reason why you might see some with msd stickers missing is that they tend to fall off :D ... luckily my vec gsi has still got it on :)
p.s - the above poster is correct, they should have the msd sticker next to the vin plate

hope this helps

ive a 1998 gsi/sri sales brouchre that the wife says can be scanned and sent to you (we think)

If you don't need the practicality of the estate then I'd go for the 4 door. Definitely the best looking of the lot. Not keen on the 5-door at all, doesn't suit the sporty "touring car" look of the car, and doesn't have the practicality of the estate so what's the point?

might be because it was tuned by a seperate tuning company. like the lotus carlton wasnt in the omega brochure (I dont think so anyway, ill have to check)

Tha Gsi in std form runs 192 bhp.....
The Sri in std form runs 167bhp....
But the main bit is if your looking for a vec estate, i'd go for an Sri estate and when you change the cam belt put a set of 3ltr cams in the end result is pretty much the same ...
but you can pick up a decent Sri estate for alot less than a Gsi estate.because of how rare they are (only 371 ever built if i remember right)
I've got an Sri estate ,that at the moment, is running 208bhp ...
Soon to be changed to alot more....lol
