Title: Projector headlamps
Post by: Andy B on 15 May 2008, 15:39:40
Just out of interest, do the projector headlamps have the same/similar lever inside to cut off the RHD upsweep of the dipped beam pattern for continental driving?
There's a discussion on a caravan forum debating where you'd use 'beam benders' or tape on modern clear, smooth headlamps, where the beam pattern is dictated by the reflector ie Omegas. I can't see that tape etc stuck to the lens will make the slightest difference to the dipped beam cut-off.

Omega projectors have the lever (both normal and HIDS I believe - HIDS definately)... nearside one is a pig to get to .. the battery gets in the way if you have big hands like me !!

Very easy to do once you've done it a few times, I now do mine at the quayside whilst awaitng the ferry.

Works well

So ....is it just Vauxhall then that fit them? As said, surely a bit of tape so far away from the reflector is going to do SFA to the dipped beam pattern.

Tape wont help you on an Eliptoid lense headlight.....

That's what I thought. So that would lead me to think that all reflector headlamps must have a similar lever set up to an Omega to mask off the RHD upsweep of our dip beam.

Every setup I have seen has the levers.
