Got myself a cheap trailer other day, so today ive been refurbing it.
Tipped it over a few times, and lots or draging it about etc... Finished outside, so went in for tea. About 45 mins later, I went to pick laptop up.... ARRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!. Never felt pain like it before :'(
Trailer is at my grans, so i had a 15 min drive home, and it was constant stinging all the way.
Does it sound like ive just pulled something? or could it be more long term damage? Bit worried from people saying 'Once backs gone, its gone!' Which at 20, so its not lasted very long! :-/

Think its my anti-roll bar bushes tbh, as my heart (engine) runs fine. ;D

I always lie on the floor with legs straight down, bend one knee twisting so the knee tries to touch the floor, but trying to keep your torso flat on the floor. My back used to crack. then i do the other leg.

on a good day they dull the pain on a bad day a bottle of jack d works wonders :) :) :)

Still hurts, but not as bad.
So im hoping ive not done too much damage!

Ian get your but to see a doctor.... posponing it will only make it worse cos if you have done some serious damage it might need playing with to put things back where they should go.
i have pulled my back many time with my job and once it heals and you have re strengthened the muscles your be right. you will remember to lift properly too.

I never lift properly, I always strain my back :'(
Plenty of strenth, I just lift with my back instead of my legs :(

Surely you know how to drive from the passenger seat!
On a serious note, don't do anything drastic without consulting your doctor. They'll obviously advise rest and pain killers, in their usual imaginative way, but you must make sure that you haven't done anything serious.
I'm not medically qualified, but think that at your age, it's probably just strained muscles which have gone into spasm to protect your spine from movement. 'Slipped discs' are actually 'ruptured' pads between the vertebrae, and I understand are not all that common an occurrence in a young person unless there has been really serious trauma.
I know how devastating back pain can be and sympathise, but care and rest will probably sort it out.

There's a big debate at the moment about whether the accepted recommendations for lifting are actually right, but take it from an old bu**er, don't abuse your back just because you're young and can get away with it at the moment. It'll catch up with you later in life and make life a misery at times.
Learn the best ways to lift weights, whatever that may be!

As a medic I would recomend you see your local GP soonest. He may just say go and take some anti-inflamatories such as ibuprofen (unless you suffer from heartburn, being 20 I would be worried if you did)
Follow the NHS guidance on lifting heavy objects (trust me I the biggest hypocrite on that one) but remember it wont make you back immune to problems.
I recomend also spending 20mins a day lying on the ground (thin carpet is best) on your back with you feet flat on the ground. Turn your feet slightly inwards so your knees support each other. Relax all your muscules in your entire body and wait. Over the 20 minutes your back should completely untense and flatten out on the ground, it may even crack slightly or you could feel it shift when your muscules detract. It realy is a nice feeling.
Hopefully it is just muscular which should heal on its own, faster with help from the AIs. If it was nerve damage you would have tingling sensations down your legs with loss of feeling and probably loss of function in severe cases. So I wouldent worry.
I once tried acupuncture for a particularly back back once and I was amased at how affective it was. I went from hardly being able to walk to running in just 3 x 10minutes sessions! Just a thought.

Back feels almost normal now, untill i move, then it gives me a kick and says 'YEH, IM HERE STILL!'. Think ive possibly just pulled something at a funny angle maybe? - If it gets worse, i will see a GP.
I think ive just overworked myself, as ive got little aches and pains all over now, like between my thumb and finger on left hand etc. :(
Have no tingling down legs etc. My mum has this though, she suffers from a bad back (think she slipped a disc a while back, and it caught a nerve and its never quite been right since)

You could ask about your heartburn at the same time. If you are overweight (sorry to be blunt) it could just be due to exess pressure in the gut forcing acid up the gullet. It isnt nice and can lead to other things but its best asking your doc.
If he refers you for an endoscopy take my word and be a wuss - take the sedation route! Some very bad memories!

Forget seeing a doctor, they are next to useless when it comes to the spine. Went to see mine told him my back hurt he reached for his sick note pad and said "how much time do you want off work". I politly told him I was self employed, and he was dubfounded, did not no what to do or suggest. Eventually prescribed some pain killers and I left.
Next day saw an Oestopath and although the manipulation of the spine felt terrible whils she was working on me, 12 hjours later I was virtually back to normal. 2 more sessions and I was cured, not had a problem since.
Is is quite expensive, but really really worth it. About £35.00 for half hour session.

I couldn't agree more! I'm 36 but put my back out when I was about 22. GP visits were a waste of time, pills and a week of bed rest but wouldn't go away.
Eventually saw an osteopath and upon walking in unable to put any weight on my left leg at all, an hour later I walked out with next to no limp! Three sessions (1 per week) and I was right as rain!
It's come back once since about age 28 and another two osteopath visits sorted that.
I'm told that osteopaths specialise in trapped nerves (sciatica - my problem though caused by an inflamed damaged muscle originally that scarred) but physios specialise in muscles. Depending on whether it's muscle damage or a trapped nerve (potentially caused by an inflamed muscle), either are good but better to get the right one if possible.
If it's steady pain never letting up probably muscular but if it's sharp pain that can disappear as quickly as it appears from movement and benefits from changing position or a heat/cold etc then I'd guess osteopath.
Funnily enough, when mine was at its worst, I found the most comfortable place to sit was a car seat!

If think it depends on the doctor as it was a GP who gave me the acupuncture that sorted my back out. And he wasnt an army doc either some locum they brought it....
