I disconnected my battery yesterday to try and reset the - - that appears in the climate dials when turn ignition off.Needless to say on re-connecting battery lines are still there but another issue has arisen.
When I went to re-enter radio code(didn,t have glasses on )accidently put in CD code by mistake.Radio now comes up with 7 SAFE. which am assuming means I have 7 further attempts to enetr correct code, but I now cannot get unit back into mode _ _ _ _ to accept correct code.I have followed normal proceedure of ignition on /radio off/hold AS nad power up radio but still 7 SAFE stays.Manual says not to switch radio between attempts so do I leave SAFE for ??minutes or do I shut it all down.Sure I have never had this problem before so am I missing a sequence ?

As you have now entered 3 incorrect codes, you will need the radio switched on and powered up (with ignition on) for anywhere between 10 minutes and two hours and a further attempt at code entry should be possible again.
If when you have entered your code, the display says 6-SAFE stop entering it any more, as you obviously are using the wrong code, and get in touch with me instead.

Thanks Dave.I will go and turn radio on with ignition switched on for couple of hours then. Will the unit let me know when I can enter correct code or is it trial and error for timing with ignition switced off then back on.
I will make sure I have my glasses on when I re-enter correct code next time as book says at 6 attempts contact VX..bit puzzled why though as you still have 6 goes left .

When the display says 7 - - - - you can have another go.
The book says to contact someone when you get to 6 is because you obviously have a problem with the code, and the lower the number, the less chance there is of Vx being able to assist. If you use up all 10 attempts, Vx will often advise to scrap the radio, or to send it to us to be reset as it is then beyond their means.

Thanks again,Dave.
Code correctly entered(must wear my glasses) and all now working.
I was quite surprised that the unit set the code timer automatically,so I knew when the time elapse had finished and just a matter of putting code in.About 2 hours on code 7.
