Post by: JamesV6CDX on 07 August 2008, 17:52:48

replace the cdc unit (same as cdc3), but keep your vertical board.

Could try Dave DND, but seem to recall that he struggles to get parts for these - Philips taken into Siemens who taken into VDO, and it seems all parts/support dropped with each takeover/merge

:o

Thats a bit of a statement.  They ain't the best, but I think that is a bit harsh.

And, tbh, if you don't want a chavvy look, finding a suitable aftermarket isn't easy...

Yeah, spares are getting almost non-existant now. If you can find a good single DIN CDC3 version from other Vauxhalls though, its an easy conversion to replace the mech / box with only the vertical pcb and fascia needing changing.

(Presumably you are using original discs and not recordable ones?)

 ;)

Not often I will stick up for an OEM head unit, but the CDC3 changer was actually a decent and well engineered bit of kit with only two minor faults - the plastic flap/switch on the front panel that breaks and the rapidly deminishing laser lifespan as soon as CDr`s are used.

The head unit that it connects with? Yes, OK, Pile of poo !!!   ;D
