Title: Siemens NCDC 2013
Post by: Lagondanet on 15 August 2008, 09:35:40
I have some problems with my audio system

1. Single CD player will not work-ejects CDs. Tec 2 answer 61 (CD focus error).

2. 5 disc cartridge plays but will not eject. Tec 2 answer 67 (CD load/eject error).

The 3 Vauxhall dealers in my area say they don't carry out repairs but merely replace entire units. @ £1,100.

I would appreciate any advice as to how to resolve. Or does anyone know of repairers in my area or close to it?

Thanks.

 :)

That particular model has always defeated us and all other repair centres I know.

Always ends up going back to factory to be fixed.

Sadly it does seem that parts for these are an issue.

You could try getting another cdc3 to use for parts for cd changer, but not sure where you would get another single slot mech from.

Using CDRs seems to accelerate the failures on Philips and Siemens audio players...

It might be worth the gamble to buy on German ebay subject to being depaired etc

Thanks for your replies.
Why do I find it unbelievable that Vauxhall do not repair or at least arrange repair for these units? Are they not still used in some current models?
Dave DND you mention factory repair. Do you have contact details for this?

Like most dealers, or any suppliers from a consumer oriented industry, they will class the radio unit as a component, and hence that it replaced as a unit...

You could try your local Vauxhall dealer, or possibly by tracking down Siemens VDO if they are still in Birmingham - chances are though, that it will go back to Germany for repair.

As that particular unit is so "Communicative" with the car with display, communications and everything diagnosed using Tech2 there are very few dealers in teh UK who are likely to have invested several £K in test equipment for repairing a head unit that is relatively uncommon outside of the Omega fraternity. Simply not enough of them to warrant the test equipment I`m afraid.

Thanks.
Siemens sold its automotive spares division to Continental AG in December 2007, so I am contacting Continental Trading in Birmingham
(VDO Dayton?) to see what they say etc and I will let you know what happens.
I can't be alone in this situation though. What have other victims done?

I use a local repairer (in Market Harborough) who is reasonable, he has had success in repairing the 4 disc changer mechanisms (think its a philips part) and sourced new optical pickups for the nav slot (although the ones for the 4 disc are no longer available it would appear)

Siemens VDO will only entertain batches of 10 units for repair. As already mentioned, they send them to Germany.

The four disc unit can be repaired using a good CDC3 (I would test anything you get from ebay for a week before swapping the units over).

I have a few new laser units for the NCDC/R nav drives (used all the OEM ones so only have equivilent ones now).

How much does he charge?

Thanks for the replies. I am pursuing a couple of local contacts first but

MARKS DTM CALIB- Can you let me have the name & number of your man in Market Harborough?

&

VXL V6- Do you have a name & number for your contact at Siemens VDO?

I contacted the Gravelly Park number and emailed them from a link after navigating the main Siemens site.

Unit 36, Gravelly Industrial Park, Birmingham, B24 8TA, UK
0121-326 1253

To be honest your wasting your time with Siemens as they really aren't interested hence why I went down a different route to fix mine.

Thanks. I have been given details of the repair facility and services in Germany (which I will post later) by Continental Birmingham? but meanwhile as I said am still pursuing some local contacts first.
