Post by: Brian T on 29 August 2008, 23:26:52
According to the manual, external sources can be connected to the 2005 but it needs to be done by VX (yea right!)
Back in the real world can any of you geniussss tell me what can be connected and how us mere mortals go about doing it?

it. like most radios, has a lo-fi mono input for phones.  This simply consists of 2 wires for the mono signal, and a mute line.

Not really suitable for tomtom units etc, as you need an adapter between it and the stereo (to activate mute line), and the adapters ain't great

Its a shame that TT didn't put on a telemute facility, which would have been easy at the software/firmware level.  Without it, the adapters use a vox type setup, which all the ones I've seen clip to badly

I'ts got an FM transmitter built into it but I'm struggling to get the radio to pick up the signal. Going to try again today now I've figured out how to tune it manually.

TT seem to bring out great products but let themselves down when it comes to thisngs like the ipod cable which can't be plugged in at the same time as the RDS traffic reciever!

Update:- FM Transmitter works fine no need for cables :y
even more update:- TT do a RDS Traffic reciever that uses the USB port...so why not include that in the box instead grrrrrr! I've sent them an email asking for an exchange...I'll keep you posted.
