Title: Cruise still not working
Post by: alexandjen on 23 July 2008, 22:14:54
Have now changed stalk and brake switch, still no joy  :(

Apart from the clutch switch is there anything else I could try?  :-/

Did you have cruise 'enabled' via Tech II after installing the stalk and brake switch?

Unplugged clutch switch this evening and bridged the two connections within the plug to complete the circuit thus bypassing the switch.............................................still no cruise  :'(

It's got me thinking back to when it first stopped working and what else I have done to the Mig.
At about the same time a brake light bulb blew and I replaced it.
I also wired in twin towing electrics around the same time, does anyone think either of these two are in any way related to my lack of cruise?

Surely you don't mean disconnect all the wiring to the twin electrics Mark?
I'm going to get some brake light bulbs from Vx tomorrow as I'm sure the bulb I used was not a Vx one.

By the way I see the price has gone back up for your MV6  ::)

A chat with a tech2 would point you in right direction.

Since I converted mine to a manual I've lost cruise, just need (a clutch switch?????) and a nice person with a tech 2 to sort it in exchange for some beer tokens..............

Thinking about it, if the ecu was told its now a manual then I would of thought it does need a clutch switch.

I must admit, to show my ignorance, that I never knew a manual could have cruise control! :o :o  I suppose this is because I have only ever had cruise control with automatic cars! ::) ::)

Yup, manuals can as well.  Arguably not as useful (as clutch turns it off), but still nice on a long run

Anyone know if I would need a clutch switch since converting it to manual?

Would of thought so otherwise when you change gear the cruise will not disengage  :y

The question would be...does cruise still work since you converted?? If it does then in theory no you dont need it...the clutch switch cuts out the cruise when you change gear...no switch it stays on cruise until you brake, just like an auto...no idea though how that would affect the cruise control box...might send it incorrect signals or something...

Liz, even our DIESELS have cruise! How times change lol!

Disengaging the cruise via clutch doesn't work very well, it's a bit jerky and should only be used as a failsafe, like the brakeswitch.

Mutant, I think you are most probably correct about needing that clutch switch for the cruise to work for Sideways.

*Admin* when quoting Lizzies post it doesn't put the correct username in the brackets??

Well I've rewired the towing electrics today.
I've now wired the 7 core dieectly to the cars loom (the one provided in the boot)
I had a 7 way bypass relay originally and I thought this may have been the cause of my non functioning cruise as it stopped working around the same time.
I had scotch locked onto the brake feed originally but am now using the feed provided in the towing loom.
Wrong again.......It still doesn't work :(

Just to recap, I've now changed the stalk, brake switch and have unplugged the clutch switch wiring and bridged the connections to rule that out.
Is there anything else left to try other than a talk with Tech II?
