I keep seeing the advert on TV for the new Astra with a gimmicky looking windscreen that goes right into the roof. Is that car just for the Northern European market? How would you get on in low sun conditions? e.g. early mornings or evening. Is there some sort of super sunvisor?

If you watch the advert carefully you'll see the guy pull a kind of blind back, i would have thought that there would some vizors attached to the blind in some way. There has to be, else like you say you'd be blinded by the sun.
I personally wouldn't like this option & would go for a normal roof line.
I've got some new Astra brochures some where, i'll look them up & let you know.

The local dealer had one in. As you say it's just like a big blind built into the roof. When you pull it forward it looks just like a normal car screen from the inside. I wasn't convinced.

God I hate those big screens, not a fan of glass in the roof full stop, cant really see the point in it...

My daily car is a Citroen Grande C4 Picasso and it has a high screen like that, I have a sun visor fitted to a blind. It does give a lovely view but in the summer the blinds tend to be closed because of the sun loosing the benefit, even with good Sun Glasses on.
Still like it though.
:) :) :)

Here here! A/C apart I either have the sun-roof open or the the lot inc blind shut. I can't stand the idea of 'an open & light feeling' in the car. Only plus point is that they don't rust ... like a Manta's ;)
