Title: Flickering right headlight
Post by: @lph@ on 15 September 2008, 16:04:56
Hi :)

I have a flickering right Xeon headlight, which sometimes flickers and stays ON, most of the time flickers and shuts down. Tried to do the usual "push/pull" on the wiring/socket on the headlamp itself, but only when ignition is OFF ;)

Where should I look? What might cause this?

Try swapping over the ballast packs first :)

Bulb on its way out...or ballast pack...but worth removing the bulb (after disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, not just with ignition off as its still connected to the battery) removing the bulb and see if its arcing or anything...had one in the past where the connections were bent and touching...

Quick cheap way to see if swap the bulbs with one another...if problem still same side, swap ballast packs with one another...costs nothing

First of all, many thanks for the answers :) Next up ; Being more or less a "freshy" and then a Norwegian, I don't know what "ballast packs" are?!?  :-/

Sorry for being such an ignorant on this. Really appreciate the help :)

On a bracket on the underside of the headlight will be a little silver box...this powers the HID bulb...it is high voltage so before doing anything with the headlights...disconnect the battery and go for a cup of tea for 10mins or so...
