I've been offerred a set of xenon headlamps from a late pre-facelift car. I understand that they come with all the leveling sensors and control unit.
Is it an easy job to retro fit these?
Do the sensors on the wishbones, and the control unit derive power from the headlamps or is it necessary to create a new loom section?
Also, what wires will need to be spliced to fit onto what?
Thanks in advance.

I would say the levelling would be a bit of a pain to retro fit...
You also need headlight washing system to be legal...

to put the complete loom in will be a mare mate !! only two wires different to fit xenon but a bit of a grey area with the law although have had no probs with two cars at mot time !! :y

It is not part of MOT test - only the fact it works and is aimed correctly. Just because it passes MOT doesn't make it legal.
See Marks DTM Calib post - http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1199707220 - for requirements :y
In reality, if you have them aimed responsibly (and not right at upper limit, or higher, and are prepared to adjust them when you have heavy loads), you are probably unlikely to be picked up. You may find that you are very frequently cleaning the lenses without a washer system, as HID lightly is strangely adversely affected by small amounts of grim that do not affect halogens so much...

Not actually true, they need to have the correct approvals to be legal and thats about it.......

Referring to your post http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1199707220
specifically:
2. Once fitted to the vehicle it must have headlamp cleaning and self-levelling (which can be for the headlamp or can be in the vehicle suspension - some expensive estate cars have "self-levelling suspension" and that is adequate). Also the dipped beam must stay on with the main beam

And in reply, confirming the legal stance and not the 'fact sheet'

thanks guys. The washer system not really a problem, it's no big deal.
However it'll be interesting to see how the wiring routes for these.
The other option is projector or osram nightbreakers!
I suppose I just want sweet revenge on the f*****r in his bmx x5 that keeps burning the back of my eyeballs out on the way home every night! ;D
