Car has been off road for a few weeks with battery out, new battery installed and radio will not come off safe mode. Did everything acording to VX manual to no avail, anyone any ideas???
Thanks in advance :y

You sure you have the correct radio code?

Dave DND is the expert in "ICE & Electrical" and is the man to ask ... whatever you do .. don't do anything more !! you only get 10 goes to re-enter the code .. after that you have major problems and it might even be toast .. :(
-
I don't even get as far as entering code for radio, after pressing AS button and turning on radio it still displays Safe mode and will not shift, got a long drive coming up at the weekend and don't wish to do it with incessant female chatter as as the musical accompaniment!!!

Sounds like you have used your 10 tries on entering the code. From memory, I think it needs to be left switched on with 'safe' showing for a number of hours before another attempt can be made? No doubt someone who knows better will advise.... :y
-
After about the 2nd try, there is a 'wait' period from a few minutes to several hours depending on how many attempts have been made.
During this wait period, ign must be on, along with radio.

Thanks guys for the collective effort, will give it a bash, anything will be better than listening to news of the latest bargains at Tesco, Asda Sainbury's etc :y

My guess is that you may be pressing the AS button and turing on the radio without first having turned on the ignition !
If the Radio says SAFE then turn on ignition first and try again.
If the Radio shows a number and SAFE ie: 7 SAFE
Then thats how many goes you have left, and there will be a penalty time that must elapse with the radio switched on as this counts down.
Generally
Code Entry as Follows:
Turn Off Stereo
Switch On Ignition (No Need To Start Engine)
Press & Hold Preset " AS " and
Switch Radio On - Display Shows
" SAFE " And Then Shows " 10 - - - - "
Press preset " 1 " repeatedly for 1st Digit
Press preset " 2 " repeatedly for 2nd Digit
Press preset " 3 " repeatedly for 3rd Digit
Press preset " 4 " repeatedly for 4th Digit
If the correct code number is now shown
Press & Hold Preset " AS " Until the Unit Beeps

Done all of the above, have had problems with the radio going back 18 months, as it would switch to Safe mode of its own accord. I actually think that I have exceeded the number of resets and will have to sit in the car with the ignition on and radio swithed on for the duration until I can get it back on.
Then again I might just install the the Blaupunkt stereo sitting in a box beside me!!!!
Thanks guys :y
