So I've just bought a CDX 2.5 saloon with the CCRT700 head unit in it and the phone setup. It works very well, but it's a nuisance having to take the SIM card out of my mobile and fit it into the car unit. Is it possible to have a duplicate SIM card made up, obviously with the same phone number? That way I'd have ...aargh, just realised a major problem. I can't see the same phone number being activated in two places simultaneously, ie both mobile and car phones working at the same time. Or does the mobile phone system prevent this, allowing calls to or from only one handset/car phone at a time?

Check with your SP. Some allow it, depending on contract - I believe Voda used to offer on one of their business tarrifs.
Nobody will do it on PAYG type tarrifs

stick a PAYG in the 700, use call forwarding on your moblie when in the car, granted there is the cost issue... but depends on how many calls you get I guess

or you could just tell people the number for your Carphone! - always thought it added a touch of coolness having a carphone in addition to a mobile 8-)

Vodafone do a Dual Sim thingy but it means you will no longer be able to use Data on either Sim (GPRS, 3G etc).
Also bear in mind your 700 will only work on GSM Networks, so Vodafone and O2 only.
Not sure if those GSM SIM Cloners work on Ebay?, just a thought.
