Now the head unit only lights up, no sound no response from any buttons, and screen is dead. arse, >:( >:(

sorted now, thanks. Discon battery, re fit dash, recon battery, bingo all working. Remembered just after i hit post button how i fixed mine. And then remembered that i had forgotten to remember to discon the battery next time i took dash out. You may remember my "i am a tw@" post a while back.
The two being paired obviously, means both have to be present on start up or they think one or other has been stolen and wont work... Im saying this not to teach you to suck eggs vxl v6 but for others reading and also to drum into my thick head that its good practice to disconnect the battery before working on a car...
Cant help thinking this communication on start up re security codeing could be intercepted re the boys current cid issue, but i think you suggested that in that funny can bus language you guys speak, anyway thanks for reply. Cheers.

Lol.....I have started to trawl the interface specs.....and they are heavy going as always!
Seems to be little more than a packet like setup transfering info with a header on what appears to be more than an RS485 type electrical interface.
