Title: radio display
Post by: gan1503 on 13 October 2008, 11:18:31
Hi i just got a cdr500 stereo with code,it came out of a 99 vectra so i should think it's compatible with my 99 mini facelift omega. I put the 2 plugs in the back, the stereo powers up & time/date come on display but nothing else. The steering wheel controls are coming on so i'm a bit stumped! :-/
If anybody got any ideas I'd be greatful.
Thanks in advance

Did it come from a veccy with full height MID, and going in your GLS with half height TID?

If so, ign on, radio off. Press and hold 2 and 4, turn radio on, release when you get a beep. This toggles the radio for different displays.  You may have to do it 2 or 3 times.

Sounds like radio in wrong display mode... ...maybe I've given you wrong procedure to change.

Assuming the MID hasn't been reprogrammed for no radio, or had a wire cut due to aftermarket stereo

I'll double check the procedure, but haven't got the docs here...

...unless anyone else can remember?

I think the clue was on your first description of the two plugs - have you not plugged the third one in at the top that handles the display ??

 ;)

SOunds like you may have an ISO adaptor plugged in - remove it, so that you are left with the three plugs and this should plug directly into the head unit.

If you do not connect anything to the top block, you will not get any display !

I improvised with a pair of scissors & straightened out the wonky pin, connected up all 3 plugs & now works perfect.
Thanks for your help  :y
