Title: CDC safe problem
Post by: mattbreaker on 04 November 2008, 09:33:23
Hello folks, I am indeed a newbie and have no idea about anything omega related so your help would be much appreciated!

Just bought a 99 3ltr V6 omega elite auto, The owner has bugger all service history and no documents other than a V5 and a MOT.

I have found the blankpunkt whatsit CD changer in the boot, however when I activate it from the steering wheel's stalk the display on the dash reads 'CDC SAFE' can anyone think of what is causing this? do I need to input a code? if so where do I obtain one?!

The Sat nav is working fine and there are no 'bleeps' that other owners on here have mentioned previously.

The Radio also works fine.

I appreciate whatever assitance you guys can offer me,

Kind regards

Matt Eaves.

You need the 'Car Pass' which is a credit card sized bit of ccard which should have your: VIN No: Security Code: Engine Type: Key No: Radio Type/Code: Serial No: CD- Changer Type/Code: Serial No. It's available, at a price, from your local friendly Vx dealer

Oh right, does this slot in somewhereon the dash? or boot?

Any idea on cost for said card?

No. It just contains the codes numbers for the items mentioned. The only codes you're likely to actually use are the radio & CD changer codes, the others are for inputting into a Tech II (diagnostics) fro key coding etc etc. There are a couple of people here who are able to help with a Car Pass too. Dave DND will also be able to help with radio codes/ decoding.
Cost dependant on dealer used, my local dealer charges c£25 but I believe it can vary from £20 to £50

Hi Matt

Your seperate CD Chnager in the boot is looking for its code number to be entered. Same principles as a stereo requiringa  code, but in some of the Vauxhalls they fit a Blaupunkt CDC2 changer that requires its own code number that is different to the head unit.

I can supply the code number for that one via my automated Online decode service, which is considerably cheaper than Vauxhalls at only £7.50

You will need to remove the changer to get some numbers from it, and instructions for obtaining the code, entering and how to pay can all be access from this link

http://ice.dndservices.co.uk/shop_show_item.php/ST/cdc2/IID/32/PAGE/shop_search_index.php

Give me a yell if you get stuck

Just a thought but worth getting the car pass anyway...as if you dont have the cd changer code no doubt you also dont have the stereo code...if the battery gets disconnected you will need this, so will need the car pass anyway...local Vaux dealer will let you know how much they charge for the car pass...then you have the codes for anything your likely to need...

Fair point, I am seeing the Vaux dealer at some point this week to get my manual so I'll ask the question.

I must say thanks to you guys for the quick response I will definately use this forum again.
