You need to read the fault codes.

If it was the immobiliser then the ECU light would flash

bit worried now chaps.put the car on the fault code reader at work even tho the engine man light has never been on and got a code 55 which i think is change the ecu also got a 52 and an 80 which i cant find anywhere to tell me what that is any ideas surely i cant have to change the ecu as apart from the starting prob she runs well.

Does the EML come on with ignition?

yes it does come on and it goes out as normal,it doesnt flash either.im not really that worried at the mo cos the car is performing well but obviously there is a underlying problem that will need sorting sooner rather than later.

Might be worth clearing out all the codes if you have access to a reader, and then seeing if anything comes back are a few days.

The 52 is a code to suggest EML isn't (or hasn't been) working.

To check EML works, it should not go out until engine starts, and also the paperclip test should work.

Try something next time you go to start it.

Crank it for a few seconds with the accelerator floored.

Then start it normaly

Are the Omega ECU's not a sealed solid state unit then?
