Title: Replacing CCR2006 - Confused, help please
Post by: Woodfull on 14 December 2008, 11:35:25
The CCR2006 in my 2002 CDX Saloon is dead, so I have decided to replace it with a JVC KW-AVX810 dvd unit with the additional JVC DAB tuner and an external aerial.

I've seen one of these HU's fitted to an omega on YouTube, so I know it can be done.

Am I expecting to find an amp as part of the current fit, if so where is it? I've had a look at the rear parcel shelf, nothing obvious, there's appears to be no tray housing the amp and no sub, the only speakers are in the front and rear doors.

If this is how it should be, does anybody know the impedence of the standard speakers (have seen lots of references to 2 Ohms, although that appears to relate to bose installations). JVC specify 4 - 8 for this dvd unit.

Finally, I will  be looking to upgrade the speakers at some point, can anybody tell me what sizes I will be able to fit into the doors.

Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure that I won't damage the JVC when I first fire it up.

Many thanks in advance.

Confused?

So am I by the head unit you mention. Check the model number as I have not seen a CCR6000 in an Omega before (other makes yes) and think you may have got some digits wrong. It can make a very big difference to the reply and help that you will get back.

Thanks Dave, it should be CCR2006, have modified initial post and title appropriately.

Swapping out a Non-BOSE CCR2006 should not present any problems, and a replacement head unit is simply plug and play by using any appropriate steering adaptors as (and if) required.

Only the BOSE systems make for a nightmare swap  :y

Very many thanks for the info Dave, happy with harness and steering adaptors.

Any thoughts on replacing the speakers?

Would it make a significant difference, what sizes?

having ripped out my CCR2006 from my CDX and fitted a new stereo in i would say get the head unit running first and then assess if the speakers need replacing?

The speakers in the Omega CDX should be 4ohms so they are more then good enough as a starting point  :y

Jay w,

Sorry to be a pain, did you use a facia adaptor when fitting the kenwood, if so where did you get it.

Saw this installation on you tube http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_OL9Or4ft-0

Looking closely this chap doesn't seem to have used one. Interested in your thoughts.

Very many thanks  :y :y
