Anybody got info. on the Magellan Road Mate 1200 sat. nav. being advertised on Ideal World for £89.99 + £7.40 p&p? Looks OK for general usage, and supposedly includes detour capability.

Sorry, no idea... I have tried a few and from my experience TomTom has the best software (though not always the best hardware, depends on what you compare it to). HTH....

The only problem with the Tom Tom is that the PC software is total sh!te IMHO. Yes, you can plan routes and load them onto the unit, but you have to plan them on a "tom tom emulator" that appears on your PC screen. Quite how this is better then planning routes on the device itself I don't know.
So, depends what you want to do. Tom Tom works great for every day use, navigating to addresses, etc. but if you want to plan a tour and download it, you'd be better off with something that has better route planning software, IMHO.
I used to use CoPilot on a Pocket PC and whilst the PocketPC part was dire, it had a really nice PC application for planning routes offline. :-/
