Title: Climate bulbs

I've just read the how2:

At the end it says to check the sampling fan.  What is it and is it worth just replacing it while everything's in bits already?

The sampling fan pulls air over the internal temp sensor, when this fails you will have trouble with getting heat in the car unless you select high.

Is it an expensive part?  Easy to replace?
