what model is the cd changer? if its a philips dc012 then the stereo you need is a SC804 (without display)
Also check that your car has the 2 subs in the rear shelf, the amp for them will be behind the rear inner wing beside the spare wheel (on saloon)
cheers

yep that will be the amp, I have the exact stereo you need here, I had it decoded so it should fit straight in providing your connectors havent been butchered, you will need to take out the head unit and have a look to see that all 3 blocks are in tact. if so then its a straight fit.
I have the cage, stereo, and the 4 grub screws £22 posted if you are interested.

got old unit out,we have a red and white plug not connected to old unit and a multi DIN(black oblong with lots of pin connectors on it,excuse the tech terminolgy) that unit plugs onto. The lead to this is then connected to another wire similar to red/white ones but it has been fitted somehow under neath a bunch of insulating tape.no other connectors visible,is this what you mean by 3 connectors and does it sound butchered.I think the old unit was not connected to aerial and prob only used for playing tapes.thanx again vauxfan2k.

Sounds like the permanent live and ignition live have been swapped round, which is the usual when fitting after market stereo's.
The black iso plug should be in 3 sections stuck together, the top row is the longest, containing the changer connections and the multi display wires, the middle row is for the speaker wires (runs to the amp on your car) and the bottom row is the power wires etc,
if all this is correct, then then swapping the wires back to where they should be will allow you to plug the std unit in.

The black ISO plug is in place just as you described 3 rows of pins with longer one on top.we should be able to slot the head unit in then, sounds simple to switch wires back ,the $64,000 question is it simple.I'm a fairly practical guy and know how to use a soldering iron.
once again many thanks.I am interested in getting the head unit, send me a PM and we'll sort it out, many, many thanks :y :y

pm on way, once you remove the black tape you should see if the wires are soldered or just twisted together, obviously when you put it back to normal soldering would be better, and using tape to stop any shorts.
